Brooklyn Nets: 66-1

The Brooklyn Nets lost characters from their bench and starting lineup that summer, since they watched Jason Kidd skip town for Milwaukee and Paul Pierce join the upstart Washington Wizards. Those losses will alter Brooklyn’s makeup significantly, but maybe not . Lionel Hollins replaces Kidd, and his seven seasons of head coaching experience should mesh with the Nets’ veteran roster. At exactly the exact same time, Beckley Mason, in a piece for ESPN.com, raised some intriguing questions about the standing Hollins built together with the Memphis Grizzlies.
“Is what Tony Allen does something that you can coach?” he asked. “Is how Marc Gasol moves 7’0″ and 260 pounds to stymie a point guard something anyone can learn?”
We’re going to learn.
We find out whether Pierce’s production can be replicated by rookie import Bojan Bogdanovic on the wing. And we will shortly see if Mason Plumlee’s time with Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup will result in a sophomore campaign that is large Brook Lopez must conquer another setback with his surgically repaired foot, and Kevin Garnett has to prove he’s got enough juice left to contribute more than a handful of minutes per game. But with Joe Johnson and Deron Williams in Jarrett Jack and the backcourt substituting Shaun Livingston Brooklyn remains a squad that is savvy using a fair amount of ability though most of it’s currently nearing its expiry date.
The playoffs are a target for the Nets, and in the event the Williams can stay healthy a seed isn’t out of the question.
