Jon Rahm delighted with home title defence at Open de Espana

Jon Rahm has set his sights on a Spanish three-peat after successfully defending his Open de Espana title with a five-shot success in Madrid.
Rahm became the Spaniard to reach European Tour victories and proceeded top of this Rush after a display on home soil to Dubai standings.
The world extended his advantage with an eagle and four birdies , with a penultimate-hole bogey and required a direct in the final day his single blemish at a five-under 66.
Im happy I three-putted 17, Rahm said. I wanted to go bogey-free, but in the close of the afternoon I did the significant thing, I managed to effectively defend it in the front of the home audience.
It may not be the strongest area yet but its always very hard for me to keep everything under control and to play the weekend I did for them is always really enjoyable.
I cant wait for next season to come back and hopefully do it twice. The crowd was anything else. Spanish audiences love golf and they love us coming backagain.
I play with a lot of tournaments through the year that do not get this much presence, therefore it shows just how much Spain needs golfing, just how much they desire more occasions and just how much they like it. Its great for the game of golf, it is terrific for both Spain and hopefully it can only get larger.
Rahm challenge came prior to finishing his 66 in Rafa Cabrera Bello, who opened with 12 consecutive pars on the last day.
I would have liked to get a birdies early to put some strain on Jon, but that didnt happen today, Rahm said. I had to hang in there, fight for the next place and I was quite happy that the birdies came in the end.
He already had a significant lead from the beginning. You could observe that dip in half following three or four holes and it alters your view – but that didnt happen, it went the other way
After he eagled four, seven shots was a commanding lead. It had been his tournament and that he played good. All I could do was concentrate on my ball, attempt to finish second and I managed to do this.
