Jon Rahm is expecting to distract the late Seve Ballesteros if he uttered his Open de Espana name.
Rahms victory on home soil in April last season was his third European Tour title in only his 19th beginning, and then he went on to win a Irish Open crown in July.
The whole world No 5 currently expects to create tournament history since he seemed to become the first player to successfully defend the title since the tournament became a part of the European Tour schedule in 1971, and he is also decided to property his fifth career victory faster than Ballesteros.
The five-time key champion, who died in 2011, picked up his fifth win in his 49th beginning on Tour, while Rahm is creating his 39th appearance this week as he tees up along with compatriots Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera Bello at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
I expect I could reach five before Seve failed, I would like to do that, Rahm said, who hauled off Paul Dunne to procure a two-shot win in the Centro Nacional de Golf nearly 18 months ago.
Those documents are always fine, and that is something I have in mind when I am playing. There are a few weeks when I want to win. And I would love to be a champion of the Open de Espana and I would love this to be the first time that I defend a title. So, I hope this happens.
It will not be more stress than last year. This was the first time with the big event and I played with, I had been in the world, I had only played well at Augusta also it turned into.
This time I dont understand the golf program. Hopefully I will just focus on playing good golf and be in the mix on Sunday.
Last years tournament brought over 50,000 enthusiasts, and Rahm is expecting to be cheered on by another big turnout.
It was a excellent week, he added. Walking down to the 18th green was a terrific sense – 50,000 fans showed up to a event that was planned and promoted overdue.
Id love to learn how many additional European Tour events capture 50,000 people. I was really proud of my nation and proud of myself to have the ability to come and win.
Its a massive honour to represent Spain and Spanish golf. We all attempt to follow Seves steps and to win that event was exceptional and very special.
