QPR 3-2 Luton: Hoops hold off Hatters fightback

QPR held off a second-half fightback to beat Luton 3-2 and clinch a third consecutive Sky Bet Championship win.
Nahki Wells scored since the west London side raced into a three-goal lead at which Ebere Eze scored – and was denied by the natives.
Luton were gifted a way back into the match when Rangers keeper Joe Lumley played with the ball to Harry Cornick, who helped himself .
James Collins pulled the back in the second half for the Hatters QPR hauled on.
Eze netted collecting Ilias Chair’s pass and unlocking a right-footed shot from 25 yards that keeper Simon Sluga should have kept out but could only turn into the net.
The chunk of toni Leistner setup Rangers’ second for Wells, who commanded his chest and fired into the back corner.
Sluga pushed Eze’s thunderous left-footed attack on into the pub as the home side continued to control.
And the bar was rattled again soon – this time by the header in Ryan Manning cross of Eze.
The Eze threaded a pass through to Wells, who slotted past Sluga for his fourth goal in seven appearances considering returning from Burnley.
At that point it was one-way , but Lumley got his attempted pass and Cornick lifted the ball into an unguarded net.
Collins’ goal – his fifth of the season – three seconds after the interval increased Luton’s hopes of pulling off an incredible comeback.
The ball swung in the far post nudged it back.
QPR’s worry was not helped by Jordan Hugill creating a mess of glorious opportunities to extend their thoughts.
The on-loan West Ham striker twice scooped the ball over the pub first by Manning, after being put up later and by Eze.
Hugill had been in fine form, scoring four times in his previous three outings, but this was.
Izzy Brown delivered a shot wide as Luton searched for a late equaliser, Yoann Barbet’s final challenge denied Lumley and Collins was to keep a shot out in replacement George Moncur.
